Noone has anything to say about the gemcrafting? No easy to find lists of gems and locations?! For shame! -.- Now I gotta get off my lazy butt and do some work. *pouts*

Here's a comment for you:
Please if you sell dust to merchants, try to do it in small batches, and reopen the store often... stores have been changed to drop low value items after 5 openings. Just try to keep the stores to less than 5 pages of stuff.
Or... just throw the dust away!

And please don't sell it to player vendors unless requested by the owner. If you sell say gem dust (or other 1 gp items) to a vendor you get 1 gp. The vendors owner then pays 1gp a day for the item being there until it is removed. If he removes it it cost him 1gp if someone else does he gets nothing from the 1gp sale.

*contemplates ways to prevent selling to player vendors...*
I can probably do that. Do I need to address this?

On the other hand if I am looking for say aloe. I can pass the word and people can sell it to my vendor. If they need say copper in exchange I can put it there for them to pick up. I guess I think it's still worthwhile allowing things to be sold to vendors. People just need to check their vendors more often. Now if you could prevent someone from selling more than say 30 items at a time to a vendor that would probably be nice.

Would it help reduce the problem, if the some of the items were stackable? If so, you could make gem dust stack up to 50-99 pieces to a stack. And if putting items in a stack reduces lag, as opposed to having many items seperate, would it make sense to put other craftable items in stackable formats? Maybe metal ore into stacks of 10, and ingots in stacks of 50. Chiseled gem nuggets stacks of 10. And items like berries, flowers, furs etc could also be stackable.

I think most crafters have litterally begged for this, but it's too hard to do with the current crafting system.
There is a rumor (started by Lan) that an entirely new craft system is being worked on....

That would be great. Not sure what you have in mind, but I have played over a 18 months on the Lands of Lore server, that has a very good crafting system, in my opinion. It is challenging, yet not so hard that you cannot make progress. The the best items that you can create crafting, are much better than items that can be found in game, thus giving much more of a reason for people to craft. Also, craftable resources, are harder to find, at least mid-level to high level resources. Just wanted put in my two cents, in case Lanthar has not decided on the new system. The server is great in most regards, but this is the one area that I think could be greatly improved.

I have never crafted gems before but i would like to try. Would any one be nice enough to offer some guidance to me? I will make an effort to cut these nice stones i have in my bag of holding now. Thank you very much for your patience with my ignorance to this topic.

OK, You need to stop into one of the jewlers stores and buy a gem crafting chisel. The books and receipe cards are also useful.
Then you need to get uncut gems. The standard ones you collect in treasure chests are not very useful.
Put them on the gem cutting table and cut them. Then go to the detailing table and polish them (you need to buy polish). For jewelry you have to enchant them and some metals and gets some molds then make the jewelry on the jewelry table.

I am running a troll and I am new to trolls so I found some gems at the merchant and thougth umm I will try this.
Well thankfully they were cut all I had to do is polish them for fine gems. ( which does not require a chisel)
So I was gonna buy a chisel for her and wa la she can not use it.
Is that cause it is a small weapon? ( to small for trolls) and is there a way we can change this so all creatures can craft gems?

First response is that this is a bug just affecting you as I know several trolls and in fact Minotaurs who crafted before. We will have to confirm this bug. Perhaps are you sure it's not something else? (class restriction for some reason? something in the way you made the troll?) Mek.
