Well Ive been interesting in learning the ends in outs of crafting. I have tried making gems with Duster but failed. He is a fighter so his intelligence is bleak. I wanted to start a new character strictly for crafting and was wondering what would be the best class for such a crafter. And what kind of stats would I want to stack to be a proficient crafter? I'm new to this so please forgive me for my ignorance. I would have posted in crafting forum. Butt it would not let me make new topic in their. Any help would be appreciated.

While I am NOT the expert on crafting I do seem to recall the use of "fox cunning" potions and rings of intel adding to your chance of success. Also start of crafting with less quality or lesser difficulty items. Your chance of success is better that way. Typically I would take a whole bag o holding full of gem stones, place it into the crafting stand and do a bag of em at a time.. when the server is full of users it can cause lag but I dont think that should be a problem now. You succeed in one swoop or you fail in one too. Hope that helps. I think Mysterling is a crafter as is Master Strife.

YW Duster. As for the links.... I am thinking those are for standard nwn crafting engine. We are using CNR Here is a link to another servers CNR recipes. I am not sure if we have all the recipes but it should be a valuable recipe list for you to try. www.nwnwake.com/2010/04/14/cnr-recipes-and-wake-publicity/

Thanks again mike. Was able to make some gems. The cats potions and rings made the difference on duster being able to roll a 20d.

My next hurdle is to learn how to enchant items. Any insight to that would be very helpful.

2 things. I am pretty sure the dex potion "cats Grace" isnt going to help you since its Intelligence bonus your looking for (pretty sure its fox cunning potion).
2nd Not that i am the resident expert but there is a cleric house in the south port lower left area of lomatin which can be used for creation. There is also in the south west (next to the above mentioned map) an invocation building if i recall correctly. One if not both of those should be of use. Including a recipe book.

If your looking to get into enchanting Duster I might suggest that you also level up Weapon/armor smithing, smelting and gem crafting at the same time. They all play a major role in enchanting. Tailoring does too since youll need to make pouches to hold components for enchanting weapons specifically.
Ive unfortunately been busy myself and havent had the chance to pay Talus a good visit again. Its a fun world and Ive had plenty of good times and adventures while in it. The DMs are top notch here and I have never been disappointed in any adventures. If you do have other questions on crafting Ill try and answer them here. Probably wont be but once a day when I get the chance to check after work.
Potions of bulls strength, cats grace, owls wisdom, eagles splendor, endurance, and fox's cunning all add to their respective crafting class. The corresponding spells also add to them as well if your a caster in any way. When your in the item creation window it should tell you what stats the skill is based off of to help aid in your successes. I believe for every + you have from stats you gain another 5% success chance. So going from a 14 dex (+2) to an 18 dex (+4) will raise your chances in any crafting skill that uses that stat by 10%.
Hope that helps a little bit to understand what you need to craft and enchant your own gear. If you have any other questions feel free to post them here and I or someone else can try to help you better understand.

Thanks for all the help guys. I worked on crafting allot this weekend. I'm still low level but having lots of fun. I was able to enchant some jewels haven't tried any thing else as of yet. Been working on weapon smithing and smelting mainly. I really need to work on wood crafting next. I will defiantly be having more questions once I level up some and can make some of the more complex items.

While medium and large molds can be purchased in ones and twos, I have never found a constant source to purchase them. Mostly, I end up making my own molds.
Bags of fire, acid and electricity can be found for purchase much like medium and large molds, but mostly, you will have to make your own.
Recipe guides for the crafting system Talus uses can be Googled easy enough.

Making medium and large crafting molds involves gathering clay and making the molds in a tinker's furnace. There is a readily available supply of clay north of Peridotia in the fields up there behind the windmill. I dont know the exact route but youve probably seen them before if you traveled that way. As for bag of lightning, fire, ice etc. Youll need to get good at enchanting, gem crafting, and tailoring to make them for yourself. Its pretty involved actually. You can use those elemental bags to enchant your own weapons with elements but again its really a lot of work for some rather simple +1 weapons with an elemental damage type on it.
If your looking for a good amount of money in return for your effort go with gemcrafting stuff, the xp is good and the higher level gems are great as well to sell once you learn how to cut and polish them.
This server uses the CNR crafting system so if you do a quick search on that youll probably find other answers as well.
Hope that helps, goodluck crafting.
