To reduce gamespy lag the best way to connect with any NWN server is to use a .bat script instead of going through all those internet game menus.
Here is the script I've used forever:
@echo off cd \neverwinternights\nwn\logs echo *************************************************** >> nwcclientlog_merged.txt date /T >> nwcclientlog_merged.txt time /T >> nwcclientlog_merged.txt echo *************************************************** >> nwcclientlog_merged.txt type nwclientLog1.txt >> nwcclientlog_merged.txt cd .. nwmain.exe +connect 65.68.156.73:5121 exit
Just open up notepad and put this into a file called "Talus.bat" and you will be able to connect by running this file.
It also keeps a perm log of all your in game talk in the file "nwcclientlog_merged.txt" if you have chat logging turned on.
To turn on talk logging edit nwnplayer.ini and put this line under game options:
ClientChatLogging=1

How is this script "Run"? And at what point is it run when starting up NWN? Put the .bat file on your desktop and double click on it. When connecting like this you won't need to click on the regular nwn icon. Also for DMs use: nwmain.exe -dmc +connect 65.68.156.73:5121 +password somepassword

I personally just cancel my gamespy connect and connect to the server through my history tab.

When I double click on it a blank DOS screen opens and nothing happens.

Do you have nwn installed on a different drive than c:?
If so you need to put in a drive change. Here is an example for drive d:
@echo off d: cd \neverwinternights\nwn\logs

No, this is all on my C drive. I suspect this is one of those things that has never worked for me, like being able to host a game as a server, so I've probably said screw it and moved on. But it doesn't work and I hate things that don't work, they get deleted.

BW where are your NWN files installed? Did you take the defaults on install to the C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\ directory? Or did you make a modification? If you did you need to change it in the file to match what you have.

To test this you can click on Start-Run and enter "cmd" and click the OK button. This should give you a dos window. You will by default put you up one from Desktop so you can "cd Desktop" then just enter "Talus.bat" and press enter. It should show you what it's doing if it gets an error. If you really want to see things put REM in front of the @echo off line I think.

Hello there Speeno and welcome. Have you downloaded and installed the CEP 2.0 pack? My guess is that's the issue. Here's the link nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=7000And I'd choose the very last one on the list if you have a good connection speed and it's really easy to install. Look for the EXE version. Let us know if you're still having troubles!
