The Lost Venture (For those attending, please read before joining, very important)
Event IntroductionYou receive a very interesting invitation along with a parcel to attend a meeting that intrigues you to the point where your curiosity has gotten the better of you. There are too many personal details in the invitation to discount and not attend and inside of the parcel is an intricate plainly made mask.
For some of you, it may be that you wish to meet this person that knows so much about you to “silence” them, for others the possibility of wealth and for even one or two of you it’s a call for help you cannot resist.
Fearing nothing and no one you embark on the directions given to your meeting place and find it to be a large “circus” like tent about 1,000 yards across and half that wide set upon what appears to be a magical foundation of stone in the Eerie Bogs swamplands far to the south west of Smuggler’s Point.
There are no guards that you can see and many torches circle the tent and some arrange into a path leading to the interior. As you get closer you can hear music playing from inside. It is a soothing music, a relaxing music. Soon, as you draw closer you can smell drifting on the mist of the bogs the aromas of cooked meats and very comforting incense fragrance that somehow reminds you of “mom / home / or of a place from your past”.
Entering the large copious tent space you see what appears to be the layout of a king’s feast and there are many people with masks and costumes enjoying themselves with food, dancing, the sharing of smoking pipes and even some other carnal pleasures. Nothing yet you surmise around you is a cause to keep or raise your guard up.
In the center of the large of tent you see a large circular reflective pool that gives off a strong sense of magic and somehow draws you nearer to it for a closer look. The size of a small pond it seems to be the center piece of the tent interior.
It is slowly starting to dawn on you now that this should not, could not possibly be here and now the hairs on the back of your neck start to rise as you notice other people wearing the same mask as yours standing around the ponds edge looking at you much the same way you are looking at them.
With your active warrior induced sixth sense you look up suddenly to see a huge falling ball of light half the circumference of the pond from the top of the tent descending to the pond below in front of you. Stepping/dodging/jumping back you see the ball of light connect to the ponds surface to create a massive wave of water too large to have come from the pond itself awash over you with the force of a tidal wave which sends the food, harps and merry makers splashing and thrashing about.
The entrance you stepped into is no where near to be found even though you could have sworn it was right behind you. To fast, much to fast the tent starts to fill to the top with the ponds crashing and churning waters as those others you spied a moment earlier with your same mask are trying to now swim to the pinnacle of the tent for what little air pockets there may remain.
Suddenly the waters start to churn and swirl and you find yourself in crashing and whirling vortex as all the water and everything it caught up are now being funneled into the center of a large hole in the ground where the pond once stood.
Try as you might, there no escaping the gravity of the situation as you and everything else in the tent are swallowed up into the vortex point. Like a dream, you are now falling into a bottomless pit, struggling for a breath of life. Despair quickly follows as you feel and see the pin pricks of your consciousness subside and are swallowed hole into the darkness of unconsciousness…
…You awake coughing and gasping for air in a strange dark room. All around you can hear others coughing and spitting out water. It is now that you notice that you are clothed in an all black robe and except for a large metal ball pendant the size of your fist around your neck, all your gear and weapons are gone. Are you dead? Is this the after life you ask yourself?
Struggling to stand up you feel a burning pain from inside your head upon touching it you feel the unmistakable touch of fresh stitches about the length of your index finger and running alone the top of your head. You also feel like you have not eaten in many days as the pain of hunger suddenly assaults your waking knowledge.
In the back of the room there is a light coming from around a corner of a stone corridor. The smell of a musty room fills your senses as you hear others start to shuffle along in the direction of the light.
Time to find out whether you are dead or alive…
Player Rules for the Lost Venture1) Try as you might, you can ONLY remember your name and the base functions of your fighting prowess and skills.
2)You cannot feel the presence of your deity though you know you can still use some of your innate powers.
3)There will be certain skills that you may have had but can no longer remember how to perform IE: Swimming & Flying (No Flying allowed!)
4)Only skill checks called for in play will be used. Making a Lore check for instance will not reveal additional information to you.
5)You do or will quickly know that you are in the Lost city of Akrona and that all that you personally (ooc’ly) know of the Lost is still with you, complete with where to find certain keys or passages etc.
6)You cannot remember ANYONE else, even you are brother or sister, anyone that you meet from here on will be considered a stranger to your character.
7)You can’t recall if you were ever good or evil or somewhere in between.
8)Try as you might, you cannot remove the metal ball pendant around your neck.
9)NO character can recall how to cast or use any innate abilities that involve curing poison, disease, level drain etc. You can recall how to cast any other healing spells in regards to hit points.
10)You have NO access to any pets or familiars. Please leave them out of this event.
11)I have pre-rolled d20 dice rolls for all and will ask you to roll a d10 to see which roll your character will get. This will be used for certain skill checks that you really shouldn't know how good a roll a you made.
What to Expect?-We will be running this event in staged scenes. These scenes will take place in various locations through out Akrona. It is ONLY during these staged scenes that your character can die instantly regardless of hit points.
-In between staged scenes we will be traveling through out the city from location to location. STAY ALIVE any means necessary.
-Stay together! You will soon learn that separating from the majority of the party will result in your characters death. IE: 6 people go right, 2 people go left. The 2 who went left will find themselves suddenly dead.
-It is easier for me to catch “Tells” then party talk. Give me time to respond and ask again in tell if you think I missed your input / info request.
-There will be NPC’s along for this event, but they will be stationary and only used during the SCENES and not during the Traveling parts. (I simply cannot control in walking / moving 5 npcs and the event at the same time) Therefore, if by some chance the hole party dies during traveling scenes, the NPC’s will be the rp behind raising the party to continue.
-Should your character die during the event, I will release to you a pre made npc for you to play during the event.
-Of course, HAVE FUN! I promise to do the same with this very different kind of event.
