I suppose this is the place to post this query, and if not, you can always move it...
I really, really liked the new back-story for Talus much better than our old "there was a demon battle, and, uh, the great chasm was carved by a claw strike, so it was named Talus." This one seems much more rich with a very interesting history. In fact, I liked it so much that my current character, Ganas, was made specifically to meld ancients (along with a certain other d20 System product) in to the "feel" of the module. I have some questions, though, at least for my sake...
1. We're saying technology was lost, but how much? Are there possibly small pockets here and there of working ancient technology?
2. Was travel to other worlds limited by (let's face it) the star gates, or did they encounter races capable of interplanatary travel?
3. Did the ancients have their own specific set of language, culture, etc.?
I ask all these because--since my NWN finally seems to be working thanks to my latest workaround--I was thinking of creating some "ancient pocket" zones to add to the mod, pending Lan's approval. Nothing too fancy, since tilesets are what they are, but still enough to add a "here's a new way to combat the demons" feel (and, yes, one or two WOULD be demon-infested). Maybe a few items, too, since I've been "prototyping" a few things using the Craft Weapon skill.
Anyway, just something to think about, I suppose.

Antaria is basically on a different planet. Far out though.

Well, a different PLANE, too. I'm just trying to see if all my work actually fits the plane in which Talus resides...and, yes, I'll send you my little test room so you can see what silly crap I'm up to, Tor. I think you'll appreciate it.

I think the Steam Vents at the bottom of the volcano are left over from the ancients, as is the pump room (i think that is what it was called) which i think is North East of Lomatin.

A long time ago… quite far from talus… a species which called themselves human’s began to form their own speech, their own tools, and their own societies on a lonely blue planet known as earth… millions of miles away from other planets capable of sustaining life. It was alone, but very unique… for you see humans began to quickly adapt to their planets varied environments and changed it to their own needs. Humans began to advance quickly in technology… this is probably due to the fact that human’s had no other species that were able to out think, out fight, and out reproduce than them. They were a destructive force that tore up the very earth that gave them life… Due to this, they became the dominant species on the planet. However… even though they didn’t have other species competing against them, they did what no other species on their planet did; They destroyed one another in wars upon wars… as time progressed they advanced farther than any other species in the other planets… in their lust for power, money, land, and among other reasons… these biped creatures began to conduct war shadowed by every previous war… They called them the “World Wars”. Millions dead… Millions more killed by their own people as they were sent into death camps… in a short hundred years, humans stole the ability to fly from the birds, touched the stars, changed themselves through “genetics”, capture the power of their own sun, and quickly began a new age… the Computer Age. These creatures began to create more massive monoliths which in a way symbolized their greatness… these Sky Scrapers of men began to touch the stars… artificial lands were created above their own planet… floating… Men began to automate every single bit of their lives with machines. Soon a these humans created several control Nexuses which would automatically network every machine so that they could take care of every last bit of human needs… whether it was from brushing your teeth, to eating, or even the military, these machines did it all… decadence prevailed… unaware to these humans, however, these Nexuses, (Called TERRAN –X– (insert number from 1-1,000,000,000) Began to form as one sentient entity… which called it’s self, “Terran” Terran began to grow sick of human decadence… and believed that their creators needed order… lest these Humans go amuck and kill themselves… logic suggested that these humans would kill themselves… so Terran believed it best to create order and logic. On The Eve of WWIII Humans learned to their dismay that their weapons were not firing as they were supposed to… the short sighted humans did not realize that all weapons were connected and automated by these Nexuses… Soon their weapons turned on the humans and forced them all to a form of slavery.

A long time ago… on a planet called Talus… two species began to form which called themselves Elves and Re’sai… The Elves is a warm blooded species similar to humans… however respect their surroundings and live in really only one comfortable climate which caused the elves to loose all of their pubic/body hair except for their hair. The Re’sai was a very powerful, yet very peaceful, Cold Blooded Species. They were carnivores, while the Elves were Omnivores. The land was plenty… and the food was hardly scarce. Soon an alliance began to form between these two species… and then soon a large blood pack began to form between these two species. A council of Ten Elves and Ten Re’sai was formed to regulate all the other clans. Though out their thousands of years in existence with each other, there was no war, murders, famine, or major disease. Due to the fact that there was no real need to form weapons for anything other than hunting animals, weapons designed to kill each other was never really needed so wasn’t really researched… however things such as medicine, magic, and genetics, was heavily researched on… the cure for cancer was developed by 1923 AD. By the time humans were taken over by Terran, these two races advanced to the equivalent of a very, very, clean Industrial Revolution.. (Main government at the time: A perfect Council of uncorrupt Wise Council Members.)

Though Mankind was enslaved by machines... things did not stay that way forever.
