Just so everyone knows... The laptop I normally use to do all my module editing and creation on has gone all weird on me. It looks like it will cost 300 to 1000 to fix, which is the cost of a new laptop... so I'm going to burn a week deciding what to do...
I have this desktop machine for the meantime, so I'm still able to get online and dm and stuff... but I rather prefer the laptop, since this machine is in a back room in my house. I probably just won't be on as much.

For those of you that might not realize just how hands on I am with computers... lanthar.dyndsl.com/i/laptop_in_pieces.jpglanthar.dyndsl.com/i/laptop_in_pieces_2.jpgAs you can see, I discovered that it costs too much post-warranty to get a laptop repaired, so I've taken it upon myself to fix it... you can see what I hope is the troublemaker on the paper there... an ATI Mobility Radeon 9200, with 64MB dedicated memory. I've placed an order to get a new one, and hopefully will be up and running in a few days. Oh, and here's a picture of the servers... web server is the dingy lookin tan computer... game server is the smooth gray and blue one on it's side... lanthar.dyndsl.com/i/server.jpg-Lanthar

Now I understand. You had to buy it direct from HP because companies don't make laptop video cards to sell to the general public. Mostly because a certain area is put aside for that ONE video card chosen to fit into the laptop, so the only thing that you can do is buy another of the same to replace it which is done by service folks (and Lan). So unlike desktops which have a good amount of room to allow a number of video upgrades to happen, alas it isn't so with laptops. My search at Circuit City (forgetting this) came up with the DESKTOP version of the 9200. I went all through this with a vendor when i was asking about upgrading my 32M card to a better one. www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=73860&WT.mc_n=92&WT.mc_t=U

I also work on laptops and what we find here is that once the warranty has gone out, its usually cheaper to replace the whole unit vs. lets say the display or system board. bummer. Lan, what are the specs on the game server anyway? what about ur uplink connection? Just curious.

LAN, How much space does hosting the world require on ur systems HDD? I have never hosted nor desire to but am just curious about needs. Also have u ever thought of going scsi? How does NWN hosting handle a dual cpu system? Just wondering aloud. This world is the best i have seen so far.
