Well, in my preparation to welcome NWN2, I thought I would do a clean sweep on the old pc that has hundreds of programs on it, both old, previously deleted and new etc. I was pretty confident that I had what I needed, except for the monkey wrench that during the install of Win XP, it asks for a Win XP Service Pack 2 disk of which I know for a fact I was never issued from the place where I bought it brand new back in January. My problem is, the install only installed some very basic files for win xp and all the ones I really need (Like the files to hook up my router, IE, and networking files) it wants to find on that SP2 disk. It's amazing that you can find pretty well anything on the internet BUT that file. If I could, I could burn it to a cd from my other operating (this one) pc and then install it by cd to the other, but after an hour or two of searching, that file remains elusive. So. I'm in this vicious loop here, need the file to install xp to a proper state so that I can get the internet, router and general system to work, but can't seem to get the file unless the pc has an internet connection! Any ideas? I dont want to spend the first three days of my vacation and the release of NWN 2 swearing and cussing at my 2.5k calculator.

Getting an instalation disk is the only way I know.
If you know someone who has a disk and hasn't installed or reinstalled their operating system in the last 3 months see if you can borrow it. Alternatly you can buy a copy. I'm in the process of rebuilding my PCs and I found a site where I got the full version of XP-pro for ~$90.

LT most pc manufacturers sell the pc with a restore cd or a hidden partition on the hdd so you can rebuild in case of a wipe...
everything should be provided from the manufacturer. I would call them if your missing the needed items.

I almost buckled late last night to buy on online version of Win XP for $299! I'm glad I held out and tried again.
