So, I went to show someone our Wiki page the other day and discovered it had been taken over by spammers. I spent a couple of hours restoring original entries and blocking spammers and protecting pages... see the now restored site at www.worldoftalus.com/wikiAlso, Badwater has been made a forum admin, and also will now have access to the server itself to help Slidermike with restarts. This might mean that if you bug badwater enough he might rework some areas...? In other news... I also changed the forum news fader, main web site, and wiki page to show the updated IP address at last Oh, and here's why I'm so busy lately: Yes. He's huge. He's 7 months old today, and he's already in 18 month clothing.

I'll post some ideas in the appropriate forums and get feedback on what players would like. Also, I'm still keen on getting the idea of a Talus2 module going to run concurrently, something along the lines of what we've been talking about for a year and a half now. Any interest in that?

I dont know where Lanthar or the others who were going to sign up for the updated 2.0 stand but personally I would still like to see a new fresh talus. My issue is and as far as I can forsee into this year, personal free time to flesh out/build and script. maybe a pared down version to start and we continue to add areas, quests and the like (sort of how talus got to were it is today).

That's what I was thinking, and I was going to talk to Lan about running a startup Talus2 concurrently. I have perhaps 20 areas. I would have to see if the beta 1.69 stuff works in the released 1.69 but that's easy enough. I was also working with the haks we decided that we liked. The adjoining city/town that I have needs merchants and quests is all. I have what I wanted to do written down and it's just a matter of getting it going. Might need to talk to Lan about what he was doing with quest scripting. The loot stuff works like a charm, though; it's great. I think having enough areas for level 1-15ish to start is reasonable.

Yes, it's really the only way to move forward. Hell, at this point, with the main server deserted 99% of the time, you don't even really need to keep mark one up and running. A fresh new core with additional hak/tileset content might actually generate player activity. As for the character vault...might as well leave it in place, assuming the BICs remain compatible. Without access to old banks and storage chests items would eventually balance out even if old high levels re-joined.

I would lean towards rfree's suggestion. Here is what I have seen over the last month or so. Old time players do drop in and play from time to time but and this is the kicker; It is almost always when no one else is on just due to the lack of players so each and every time lets say I log in I can expect that 90% of the time I will be playing solo for those couple of hours. Now for me, solo is a way of life and how i enjoy the game but it is also enjoyable to be on even solo but having others on the server to chat with or just knowing i am not truely alone.
Also I have seen several (3-5ish) new login names but since the server is almost always dead I havent noticed repeat logins by those newer players.
Haks: I am for any hack that meets 2 criteria. #1 is easily found/downloadable and installable. I dont feel we need to worry about dial up, just too few of those these days. So size of the hak isnt a large concern. #2 Adds something to the game experience that both the nwn and cep updates dont. The biggest of these for me would be a NEW CRAFTING SYSTEM.......... ours is woeful and offers nothing other than some xp which you can get doing a lot of other things.
Some Haks I would be for are but not limited to; *Heads, bodies/tails *weapons/armor (cep does a decent job of this so may not be needed) *Portal Scrolls or stones. Think... Diablo with portals you activate via scroll (one time use per) and it returns you to the nearest down AND stays open so you can walk back to where you activated it before it fades away. That was one of the best features of Diablo IMO.
Also something rfree was begining to look into was adding more unique subraces... Githyanki and Githzari are 2 good ideas.
