TALUS HAS BEEN UPDATED TO CEP 2.2
You must be updated to CEP 2.2 to adventure in Talus.
I will now be working on making the PAW tool available to players (you will get it from Jonathan; I'll be changing his script).
I'm expecting gold issues from players who did not bank their gold. I will do the best I can (as will any other DM) but I'm not going to promise anything.
Initially the PAW will not do much but as I update areas you're going to need the PAW more and more. I will put together a sticky that explains the functions of the PAW, but what it does is automatic, so you'll just have to get used to using it as we go along.
Please post here if you encounter any bugs with CEP 2.2.

Merchants and player vendors do not recognize the new gold system. I am looking into it now.
Talus is password protected while I figure it out. If I can't get the new gold system to work I will update the C.R.A.P master control script to work on the old gold system.

I have reverted to the old gold system. I would have had to change every merchant to use the C.R.A.P. gold system and that's not worth it for Talus 1; we'd have to start a module fresh (like Talus 2 ). We are up on CEP 2.2! This does not mean that you do not need CEP 2.2! Install CEP 2.2 before adventuring in Talus!

nwvault.ign.com/fms/Download.php?id=130150that is the direct download to the FULL cep 2.2 .exe all in 1 massive file. It is 1gig in size so be patient it will take a while to download.. Once you run it if you already have an earlier ver o cep installed you will have to hit the enter key several times when it asks about over writing files (it will update them so make sure you chose yes). Otherwise you can see all the various download options here nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=7665

slidermike got the same results I did on horses; that is, they still are unmountable. I will look at horses later, because I think it's more important to get other parts of Talus updated first. The PAW does not seem to work for me as it should, and certainly not like it does in the starter module. CEP 2.2 Wiki has a different hak order than what is listed in NWVault, and I'm trying that even though I think it's not an issue. Because I changed the gold setup in one of the haks, however, rebuilding the haks may be a good thing anyway so I'm rebuilding Talus overnight to see what happens before I start bothering the CEP team again. So don't worry about getting the PAW for your PCs yet - even if I get things working right with it this weekend it will be at least a week more before there's a chance of needing it.

I have solid information on what to do to get the PAW working and I will be updating Talus tomorrow (Monday) night. Cross your fingers that this is finally the end of the road for getting C.R.A.P. update complete. If the PAW works then we're in business.

The good news: I got the PAW working.
The bad news: Somewhere in the scripting, what was added killed the subraces, somehow. My ice kobold logged in with a halfling appearance. I also had a different character entering the module in strange places in the area he was last in, or not in the same area at all.
So...
I've backed out with an earlier WOT from 4 or 5 days ago while I look and see what's going on.

;D
It appears that I have things working properly, but let me know if you encounter any bugs.
Upon login, you will receive an item called Widgets and Books and in it will be the Player Action Widget. You will get it automatically if your character does not have it already. If for some reason you don't have a PAW, you can get it from Jonothan at the Info Booth in Peri Port.
As per my previous post, you will see the areas where you will need to use the PAW in the Module Updates thread in this forum.

The Advanced Rest setup is working perfectly. I've already started adjusting areas around Peridotia with AR in mind. There will be some clumsiness, for lack of a better word, around Peri Port while this process is happening. This will be only for a few days, as it will not take me too long to deal with resting in Peridotia, and then beyond. C.R.A.P. is working now, so expect big changes in a lot of areas, and eventually every area in Talus. I'm going to make lots of bashable chests - but what's inside might be in pieces. I'm going to make resting happen in logical places; so, no - you can't rest in the middle of the road in Peridotia Port. You can't rest by the portal, but did you really expect you could? Try in a logical place. I'm going to make reasons to be listening at doors, or searching for tracks. I'm going to invent reasons why you should have been watching for that hidden pit... Hidden stuff. I love hidden stuff. I love building and finding hidden stuff. If you've gone through some of my areas and haven't found anything hidden then either you weren't trying or you're not quite high enough level, but....do try. I love building hidden things, so they're there. CEP 2.2 has new maps. They're coming. Now that things seem to be working as I would like, there will be fast and furious changes. There will also be changes on things I'm not directly involved with, like BI. LT and I have been talking about changes there, so the first step in that direction is to happen shortly, as I told LT I would send him areas for updating when CEP 2.2 was in and working. The PAW is going to be very helpful to you in time. I will see to that. I love that it enhances the solo or small party experience - nothing is taken away from DM events, but the PAW really adds to the non-DM experience. Talus is changing. If you don't pop in for 5 years and then suddenly pop in, the yes - it will seem the same yet different. But I will make it an interesting place, with easy and hard areas for every level....or (with Talus 2) a completely different gaming experience. I will make Talus so that DM quests as well as soloing will be fresh. But please, keep in mind one thing: Talus isn't mine. It's Lanthar D'Alton's. That's who I work for, is Lanthar. I don't do whatever at my own whim, be it loot drops or quests or RP or whatever. Talus 1 will always try to be the roleplaying server that Lanthar envisioned. So what if the interface is old? It's only as old as we make it, folks. I still love to push those pewter creatures in a PnP game, I just never get to do that any longer - but it has nothing to do with the format. I still love D&D, same as 30 years ago. I still love what Talus can offer, same as 5 years ago. C'mon people - let's get busy!

In the next few days my updates will be concerned primarily with testing all of the CRAP functions. Testing and implementation is in this order: - Resting - The only thing seemingly up in the air is in being able to scrounge for wood. Also, bashing doors for planks seems to be missing as well. In the meantime, the camping merchant sells firewood and you'll be able to find woodpiles here and there to get wood for campfires. Ellis noticed that resting unequips your PC which prevents spell bonuses that you would get from equipped items. I will modify a script tonight to correct that.
- Hidden Tracks - Tested and working. Tracks give one message to all classes except Ranger. Rangers up to level 6 get a more detailed message. Rangers level 7 and over get an even more detailed message.
- Hidden Items and Containers - I will be testing these tonight and tomorrow, then start hiding things to be finding.
- Spike Doors - Easy to test so they're next.
- Pits and Pit Traps - Pit Traps?!? No one told me about pit traps!! Yeah, I'm warning you now...there might be hidden pits. If you fall you might go boom. If only you had searched....
- Jumping - Yes, you can jump over things now. This will be easy to test.
- Hidden Compartments - These will be tested last.
As soon as I've tested these items I'll be updating Talus. I will let you know that I've tested successfully, and then after that you just might have to use them to get somewhere or to find something. Everything won't change overnight, but whereas you don't have to worry about using the PAW much right now, in a week or a month it's going to be a different story.

So far I'm encountering some issues with secret placeables (items, doors, containers) and I'm not sure why, so once again I'm looking to the CEP team for a clue. Unfortunately this is delaying any updates - I'm waiting for everything to be working before updating existing areas or making new ones.

I have the secret doors working. They are pretty much the same as the previous secret doors we have in place, but these are easier for the builder to place.
I'm having problems with hidden stuff, except for tracks (which is a mystery to me). Not much going on until I get CRAP worked out.
I think pits and pit traps are working, but there's a aspect that also does not seem to work as in the documentation. I'm trying to work that out as well.
I think that when pits are up and going I will have to explain some things about what PCs need to do and have when they encounter pits. After I have them working dependably I will post on what to be doing.

Hidden items, containers, and compartments are still not working. I've posted my results to the CEP team and we'll see if there's something they can come up with. Keep your fingers crossed, something has to give.
