You can download the latest version from NW vault. But make sure it's consistent with what Lan has installed.
One thing to consider is I believe you can make a receipe that uses a unique item. So you can use them as a quest reward. IE player goes on a quest and gets pattern for +n sword. He puts the pattern in with the required other components and gets the pattern and maybe the +n sword out. But no one else who lacks that pattern can make it.
While we definitly need more items in particular more powerful items don't overbalance things. Would also be nice to be able to make some of the newer items such as the dwarven axe or the ones added by CEP.

My general suggestions as to how to improve crafting in Talus (in a rough priority ranking)
1) Fix or remove broken receipies.
2) Add a way to get all the ingrediants for receipies that are in. Some of these may be hard to tell from broken reciepies. Such as makeing something that requires holy water and it doesn't work. Do we need CNR holy water (like we need CNR blank scrolls, garlic, salt, etc)
3) Add more items (but add powerful ones carefully) (my dwarves would really like to be able to make dwarven axes for instance)
4) Modify some economics. These changes would be more complex, require more work and skill, and have to be well thought out. I'm willing to go into more detail here or in private email if anyone is interested.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but it seemed the best place to do so. I have been looking everywhere for recepies and what not so I can do brewing and baking. I can not find anything, so my problem with doing this trade is that I have no idea what to get and what I can make. So, can we get some in there, I did finally find a place where to actually do the craft, and that is in Battle Isle in the Dwarven Inn thing. Would be nice to see if he sold some of his food, and recepies as well. Now, I do know that there is a place where you can buy some of this food, but I can't remeber where I found it at which I would love to see more of that for RP reasons and what not as well. Like I said, I am really wanting to get to doing this craft, because my char is somewhat of a "chef" or atleast it is in her background. I would love to RP up to that by doing the craft, NTM I see that little by little ppl are calling for this craft, but noone has taken it on.

If you don't mind writing things down or have a good memory you can put an item in the varous cooking equipments and it will then tell you what you can make. If you check each item it will give you a reciepe.

good point, but still, would be nice to have them available in game. Honestly I could see how that would hinder ppl from actually wanting to take up the craft. NTM all the other crafts seem to have the recepie cards out. All you would have to do is add the recepies to the merchant's inventory. I could even volunteer to help in that aspect if need be.

okay, I have went through and written down all the recepies for all the baking and brewing tools. The next problem I have is the lack of things needed. Some of the recepies call for a bucket of water, Yeast, Brewer's yeast, or an empty juice bottle, or an empty brewing bottle. So far I haven't found anything as such. Can someone let me know where to find them?

I believe you have to craft them. I know you can craft Empty Juice Bottle's at the tinkerers.

To get a bucket of water you need an empty bucket and a pool of water. To get a empty bucket you need to make it at the wood workers. It takes hichory planks and copper wire as I recall. You can make the copper wire at the tinkers from copper ingots.
Glass vials, flasks, and empty bottles are made with glass ingots at the tinkers. You get glass ingots from sand at the also at the tinkers.

oh neat! I had no clue...alright, then what about the brewers yeast and yeast? Doesn't seem right that you would make them, but if you do, how?? And THANKS!!! =) I would have never guessed. Not really familiar with the trade skill system that is used, so it was a HUGE help.

I'm pretty sure you have to buy them. In the real world once you have some you can keep a starter but I don't think that works here. I'm just not sure where to get them as I haven't bought any. I think I have seen them (and sugar) for sale once or twice but don't recall where. Could be a merchant in Lomatin or on Battle Isle. If not there perhaps the gypsey caravan. Hopefully someone who knows will give us a hint.

Foscadh: Hello! Still posting helpful crafting tips on here, I see. Do you bake bread in RL? (mention of "yeast starters" prompted that question, btw). Zaide: A bit ago, I had put up some basic info on the site about the CNR trades lanthar.dyndsl.com/tradeskills_page2.html (Brewing & Baking are towards the bottom of the page). Not sure if you've already seen that, or if it's any help to you, but it does describe some of the components you need to create some of the related stuff. At least it'll give you a "shopping list" to give to Lanthar. Hmm, the info under "Brewing" on that page on the site is actually the description for alchemy. Oopsy, on my part. I'll have to update that for Lanthar some time. Here's the info for brewing: "Brewing beer, wine and liquor begin with the gathering of wheat grains. Corn, barley, wheat, rice, rye and oat grains are all usable. Grains must be roasted to bring out their flavor using the Baker's Oven. The Farmer's Mill is then used to crack the roasted grains to produce malted gain. Malted grain can then be combined with other natural resources and cooked to make wort using the Brewer's Kettle. Finally, the wort and sugar are combined with water and bottles in the Brewer's Keg to produce a tasty alcoholic beverage. Nothing to it! We encourage the builder to add his or her own favorite concoctions!" via www.alboria.com/crafting.html-Anj
