Starting this thread as a place to discuss other critters and habitable locations they would need.
Where: An underdark cave system; possibly breached by a sewer line or cravass along a fault line or even an alternate entrance deep in the mountains. (not necessarily a drow city like T1) What: bats, worms, kobolds, oozes, duegar, drow, ants. Loot: non to unique depending on area and creature defeated for it & its logic of being there.
Where: Recent or ancient battlefield at some strategic point between two areas or around a vital resource such as up in the Hundevul coast where clean water might be extra important. What: low to mid lvl undead from opposing armies who fought the battle recently or even long ago that remain unsettled. Loot: None (battlefield could have been completely picked clean) to unique item (Something they fight was over or an overlooked rare item some undead refused to leave behind).
Where: Swamp not located too close to civilization What: Bullywug, lizardmen, beetles, worms, swamp troll, spiders. Loot: same as caverns above.
Where: Ruins of a town, military outpost, mages tower. What: anything that likes shelter but not accepted in civilization such as rats, spiders, werecreatures, secret evil cults, ogres, bandits, traps, undead Loot: Same as battlefield above

Nice ideas! I have always toyed with the 'Battle grounds' concept. I've been working on an actually battle grounds that adventurers stumble across as the war rages between 2 kingdoms or such. An ancient battle field would be great to find and perhaps hold some rare/unique objects?
