I'd like to start a series of events as a DM.
Rules are:
#1. Standard races only. This means Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Halflings, Half-elves, Half-Orcs, and Humans. NO subraces.
#2. The characters can only be played during the event, with the exception noted below
I'd like between 5 and 7 people to do this, but will accept more, on a standby basis, in case someone is sick or has other obligations. Anyone who falls behind is free to play their character outside the event, up to the level of the party. Eg: if you can't play during the second week, and everyone reaches level 6 by the end of that session, you can play your character until they reach level 6.
I'd like a balanced party, not just fighters, or rogues, or wizards, or whatever. My idea of a balanced party would be 2 fighter classes, a wizard or sorcerer, a rogue, a cleric or druid, and maybe a bard.
We'd be doing the standard quests, as well as dm quests, so long as the standard ones do not conflict with them. Eg: We won't be doing any involving travelling to snow city, unless we're going that way anyway.
While the group will be 'no twink', you can certainly accept gifts and donations off other players who aren't involved, so long as you can use the item immediatley, or very soon after receiving it. I might grant the party a little more gold on character creation to help them get equipped properly. Something like twice the normal starting amount. Any equipment found that is unwanted by the party can be sold, and the proceeds split between them.
Once the characters reach level 20, I may continue on to epic ranges. If not, they are free to be played how you see fit.
Clerics, Druids, Rangers, and Paladins must stick to their deities' path, and follow the 'one step' rule for alignment. In the case of Clerics and Druids, they must choose domains that their deity allows, or if there are domains missing, the closest possible. You may not cast spells of an opposite alignment to your deity, and I would prefer you to use your deity’s favoured weapon where possible.
Certain classes may only multiclass to certain other classes. For example, Monks, Paladins, Cleric, Druids. I'll outline the allowed multiclasses as per 3.5 handbook a bit later.
Any alignment is allowed, so long as it's not played in a disruptive manner. Eg: no CE characters stealing all the parties gold.
Edited to fix an error with cleric/druid alignment
Edited again. Decided against the no PrC rule. Character may now choose a prestige class. Monks and Paladins still face the restrictions on what classes they can multiclass into, though. For the purpose of this campaign, I will allow classes that can become Divine Champions to take levels in Champion of Torm, as this PrC IS a Divine Champion. You can role play as being a divine champion of the god you follow.
I would ask, however, that if you're going to take shadowdancer levels, DO take more than the first level. Also, I won't be allowing Pale Masters or Weapon Masters, as these are, I believe, bioware introduced prestige classes.
Just a brief explanation of something.
Freely multiclassing is open to ALL characters, except Monks and Paladins of certain orders. This means a character can take, say, 7 levels of Rogue, then 1 of Shadowdancer, then back to Rogue. If a character can't freely multiclass, then once they have chosen their second class, they cannot return to their original class.
