This world has gotten big enough so that there are resource constraints. This means that in many cases to add something requires taking something out. I believe CEv2 is installed. Not sure that I've seen hostile human barbarians but that shouldn't take any additional resources the builders will know for sure on this one. Rideable anaimals has been under discussion I believe not sure what the resouce constraints are there. Hopefully someone who knows a bit more will respond soon.

This does seem to be the proper thread to make a suggestion, though not so much as a suggestion, but some ideas floating around in my head.
With level limited items and having to wait until higher levels to get the good stuff, how about items that level alongside the character?
Not really knowing what it would detail, but have the DMs considered giving casters more options with spells like polymorph self and shape change?
I would like to offer congratulations to the GMs, what I have seen so far of Talus, I like, from a builder's point of view, and as I do not know enough about scripting at this time, you have me impressed.
Mek has a thread in Module Updates. Now as I can not reply to what has been added, I would like to ask a question or more. Now I am not sure as to what it would entail to add another subrace of humanoid, just think it would be neat. The subrace is called the AEtheris, a creature of the ethereal plane, a guardian of a sort that is some times found on prime, usually has base element from which it derives its abilities and it usually behaves as a mediator between the positive and negative aspects of existence. They can be of any basic profession but none of the prestige professions. There are three types of Aetheris: Gatherer Preserver Destroyer
Gatherer behaves with some measure of insanity as do all Aetheris, those that gather can hear the words of the gods constantly as they proclaim which of the faithful are to be theirs, those that preserve can hear the prayers of the forsaken praying for a second chance, then there are those that destroy, there are only as many as there are liches and demi-liches in the world, as the essence of an Aetheris is one of the components to making the phylactery. Once stripped of their essence they become a vengeful shell that will kill anything in its path while it hunts for the phylactery that contains their essence.
It has been my experience that the Aetheris is an avatar profession better suited to a GM that wants to portray a character for general play as it does have its limitations as a subrace, but some strengths can be easily abused by a player not concerned with cause and effect rules.
Have a few ideas, - like self-leveling weapons, although rare to unique, they do exist. - casters choice for creatures to be able to polymorph or shape change into other than the generic.
I would also like to ask the GMs here if they have play-tested either the PVP True Spellmaking script or the PVP Enchantment script?
And how did you get CNR to work without requiring players to download and install the hak?

Not sure for how long encounters have only been set to give 1 or 2 gold pieces, but finding nothing but gold on a dead encounter leaves me to wonder about everything else the encounter possesses. An encounter has a nice weapon, nice equipment or has other items of interest. Was very surprised to see encounters where they had an amazing supply of healing potions and spells. Yet, when the encounter was slain, you only found a single gold piece. Encounter did have items, but somehow in being slain they miraculously vanished. No worries really, though it would be nice if I would find a module, like Talus that would take such into consideration. So many other modules do much the same, all items vanish. Have you thought of a money changing system, could use the same system as the original PnP DnD: Copper, Silver, Electrum, Gold, Platinum.
Talus is a great module, but I see some things that are lacking. It may be the result of earlier players that took advantage of the DMs that it now is set the way it is. Certainly leaves me to question of other player and their characters, how many managed to get to epic levels when the module was in its infancy, stuck with the module through all the updates and are now powerhouses of character and wealth. I do see the DMs as being fair in their quests, and when one was available, attention is given to roleplay and awarded accordingly. In most cases, by 2am everyone has logged off, at least from what I have seen of the player list. I portray a character that is not about to march off into the wilderness pursuing a quest on her own, she would want a companion. Having an Intelligence: 18 and a, Wisdom: 16, means she is smart and not a fool. With a Charisma: 14, you would think that would attract a companion. Even if I had to rent one for a quest, it would be better to go alone. May I suggest a place for individual characters to go and find an npc to aid them in the pursuit of a quest?
Question: The lizard widget is not that good, the only thing I could have spoken to with it was lizardmen and I could not do that, as party companions killed them off before I had the chance. It would have been nice to have skinned them, having skin that is tougher than snake skin.

Not sure for how long encounters have only been set to give 1 or 2 gold pieces, but finding nothing but gold on a dead encounter leaves me to wonder about everything else the encounter possesses... Yes, this is not very realistic but is a necessary compromise. The allure of abuse is too great, I'm afraid. The henchmen available in the OC are available for hire in the Challenger's Inn. Of course it is best to hire after a reset in order to have the best selection available. Question: The lizard widget is not that good, the only thing I could have spoken to with it was lizardmen and I could not do that, as party companions killed them off before I had the chance. It would have been nice to have skinned them, having skin that is tougher than snake skin. If there is a token that you think fits your RP better then let a DM know and we'll accomidate that. As far as lizard skin, it would take additional resources to make that happen and our available resources are limited; plus, we have to make choices - if it were to come down to it do we choose rideable horses or lizardman craftable skin? That's kind of obvious but there are a lot of other not so obvious choices that builders like Mekerek have to make based of what is practical, what fits Talus, what would be most popular, and what we have resources for.

Hello there Aszhra and welcome to Talus and the boards.
I personallyh love to hear what others have to say on Talus and any suggestions as such, if only to help give a new perspective on a world we all love and enjoy thoroughly.
I've not tried the those two scripts, but they do sound interesting. I'm not a scripter myself but I do know that scripts can add alot to a game world, just as much as they can take away from it.
Still, they do sound interesting...
Yes, as for the 1 gp drop, *shrugs* no idea how or why that happens. I do know that we have some empty chests in the DM hall that says something like Low/Med/High, is it to much to presume that what is put into those chests will possibly be able to have as a potential loot prize in the game world? I've always wanted to ask that question but forgot until now that Aszhra reminded me.
Anyhow, welcome to the server, and please, post away with any and all thoughts. I'm sure thats how Talus was created after all, just by someone following a thought...

During my last holidays, had to remain behind while the folks went east to visit family. Someone had to stay to take care of the cat. Anyways, had 2 weeks for myself and spent it going through the nwvault, checking out *.erf files. So far I have @3gb worth of useful scripts. Reason for this, as a GM on Itropa, the creator insists no *.hak be used as it is an entirely custom module built on CEP2. (Originally CEP) By no mean am I pumping Itropa here, but the DMs may consider reading its history as it is very similar to Talus. It is sci-fi based and I have the permission of the creator to add via an additional server an alternative. As Talus has a stable crafting system, and you both have the same theme, roughly. Creator here may want to share words with the creator there. This is just an idea. Be it considered or not. Talus and Itropa are the only modules I found throughout the servers that have similar themes. Sharing thoughts even if they are never pursued.
Also, it was nice to get a reply.
Tell me what you are looking for in a script. I probably have it already or something very close.
By the way, anyone here know how to use 3dsmax. I managed to splurge and purchase edition 8. Also have various sound and video editors. Have not figured out how to use the TLK editor with great proficiency but I do have it.
Do have a script for coinage and it works with your banker. You create the various types of coin and exchange rates. The different coins can be found in treasure troves, encounter remains or used by the characters.

Was reading through the crafting thread, about barley not existing or the cooking of meat. I may have the solution to this quandary if anyone wants. I do know a little something about the craft system and its scripts having worked on UOAcraft. Still as yet received a reply from abigail, but I am sure she is busy trying develop her craft system for nwn2 and her own module. Reply is in relation to the missing baking oven. Somewhere I have a script for edible meat. As for barley missing, just need to use CNR recipe maker, as it requires a base TAG, Blueprint and subsequent TAG, Blueprint of all the items to be created through the recipe process.
Oh, here is a nasty thought for you. I have creature script that fissions when fire or lightning is used against it. Also something really cute I found in the vault, Bubbleflies, tiny bugs with minor globes of invulnerability. I just thing they are cute. Auromvorax that goes around devouring gold. Radial option for polymorph and the shape change spell, casters would get a Book of Shifting and be given the choice of what creatures to change into. Anyways, I have lots and lots of scripts. Even one that makes the hellball and greater ruin, do an average of 360 dmg to a max of 720 dmg.
The good thing about my collection of scripts, is that I have selected some really good ones that were overlooked by the CEP team as they were released into the vault after the release of CEP2.

First.. Thanks for the ideas Aszhra, I appreciate the suggestions.. a few notes..
We have also been through several scripts that are on the vault several times, and often browse through what is there... so scripts from there aren't really a help unless we see it a specific issue fix and even then.. usually have to be picked apart and just the relevant parts fit in.. (see below..)
We have grown greatly here over the last several years and as such are probably one of the largest modules out there with over 1000 areas and many custom creatures, items and scripts. We have become /very/ customized over the last several years and rarely does a script off the vault fit into our module. This is because of several reasons, first is the customizations that have been done over the years, and the other is literally space. We have actually hit the max resource limit on several occasions and even with severe trimming we are again at that limit. A typical ERF import to add things usually contains from 30-100 scripts/items/etc and each of these resources move us ever closer to the max resource limit. When we hit this limit the module can't be run and will become very unstable. I have spent many many hours cleaning things from the module and we are literally at the point that anything that goes in must either replace/update something else one for one or must have things removed to allow it to fit at all.
It's a very tricky balancing act and sometimes limits things we would like to do.
There are lots of ideas out there for us to consider already and the list never seems to stop doing so, this is a good thing, the bad thing is trying to fit these in and have time to maintain the module.
We have already been considering rewriting several of the spells and are working on getting some of these changes in which of course requires clearing out some other things to make room. We are currently working on the Polymorph, Summoning and several other aspects to make the world more unique.
Thanks for the time, I hope this helps you to understand why ideas aren't just jumped on, we are listening, sometimes we are just slow and have to carefully consider things which go in to benefit the greatest number of people.
Mek.
PS. Please make separate threads if ideas aren't the same so that they can be followed up independently and replied to instead of several long ideas in the same thread, harder to keep track of what's been read and what hasn't.

To assist you better, if you are wanting such, best to know, 'What would have me do to best help you and Talus?
You did state that scripts of interest are those that improve upon existing scripts. That certainly helps me create a smaller field, but just how big a boundary do you have?
Also, how would you like for future threads to be initiated in the future?

Just a heads up. Several ideas from this thread and others are going in soon, likely by tomorrow. So keep an eye on the module update blub that appears after you join the server in game.

Since your working on Alvar quests, *waves hand* You want to make evil quests, they are the quests you are looking for. P.S. Evil characters are people too.

Since your working on Alvar quests, *waves hand* You want to make evil quests, they are the quests you are looking for. P.S. Evil characters are people too. Yes, and not just in Alvar. What I'm working on is a quest that will be the first of several that I have in mind, and that is a quest that has a moral component based on the choice of the player. If my character chooses A, then there is a moral consequence that will ultimately affect character alignment. If my character chooses B, then there is a different consequence.

I was looking around some of the Akrona buildings as a DM.. The following list could use help.. I got some ideas for it.. So I might as well learn to build.. Cause in my person opinion they are useless...
Akrona Garrison, Cloak Tower, Arcane building, The dark rise, dark crypts.
Also.. running around with BW's son.. in Alvar prison.. As a rogue speaking here. The guards should chase you... and they are push overs if you attack them.. Not sure there is a way guard can chase you other than a dm taking control of the npcs
Besides I want something to do lol
