I'm wondering aloud about guilds - have all of the guilds in Talus become non-existent, de facto?
If that is a reality that we're going to acknowledge, then should things stay the same? Or should we remove the guilds?
Perhaps guilds should be a NPC enitity? Which is to say, maybe if you're a rogue then only you can get a certain key from a NPC or interact with a certain NPC, be it as a store or for a quest?
I'm just kind of wondering, here we have all these guilds that haven't done anything in a long while, all of them. Perhaps we should set something up for the individual player or small groups, and then a DM can chime in with a quest or something to add flavor to that guild/group?
Are all these areas taken up by the FBs, goblins, drow, HC, pixies, EN, crafters, etc. the best use of those resources?

I for one will say for the most part the EN is dead. Yes we have rogues in the guild but to gain entry we have had a dm do some sort of quest. Yes we have a crafting area, our own merchant, and the "dungeon maze area". I have wanted to rebuild that guild anyway ,( I'm not a builder so I have no clue how to even start). I would not be opposed to having it removed.
Personally I don't see the need for a "tower, house ( including a private home used as a guild, that would not be unfair to us who are losing our guild buildings whatever they may be).
I would not mind extra resources to do other things in Talus.
So as a guild leader I vote YES on this idea.

As for the Freeblade guild, I have already recommended that we condense their feefdom back down to Battle Isle alone and let Mirek be used for other purposes now that the FB guild has retaken its castle from Liveda.
Also, as previously noted unlocking the main gate entrances by default would suit me fine since were back in a state of balance and the crafting merchants/areas are of some use to players.

The question I'm posing is far more reaching than the consolidation of the FBs. I'm wondering if, in the absence of any active guilds, if we would not be using our resources better by eliminating all those unused areas, merchants, NPCs, etc. and using the resources elsewhere. That could possibly mean that maybe there is one interior for a given guild, in case any members want to do a DM quest. I'm of the opinion that if no one is active in a guild then the guild doesn't exist. I don't think any of these guilds really exist, because there are no active events in any of the guilds and there have not been for, what - a year? Two years? More, depending on the guild? At what point does the non-use of all these resources constitute a waste of said resources? I don't think we'll ever have the player base to have active guilds again. I think we'll be doing fine if we're on and can do some quests. For an intermittent player base, doesn't it make more sense to have updated areas that cater to the reality of the player base, which largely solos or adventures in very small groups?

In the absence of any objecting players voicing their concerns here; I would say do it and if we dont like it we can always change it around.

First let me apologize for the sudden disapearance of HC from the scene.
As most of the early members are US active duty military, we had a bad stroke of luck with almost everyone transferring stations at once, and such events bring new life and challenges, and changes.
I had a job change myself that took up MUCH more time than I had anticipated in getting settled into.
I want to say that I, and my brother are both long time players on Talus and are going to try and re-dedicate our efforts to getting HC presence back strong.
As more members have gotten settled, i think many may be willing to come back.
If you can bear with us during this time, it would be appreciated, and we may be able to bring back a bit of interactive life to the guild scene.
Talus embraced us when we arrived, and we would like a chance to re-establish our presence to help Talus be a FUN and active RP server that we fell in love with.

Understood, and I'm sure you have noticed that while I pulled the forum for HC and others, the HC areas have not been altered or deleted. Same with FBs, EN, etc. - the guild areas are still there for roleplaying and DM questing purposes. So while it's true that there are no active guilds, it's also true that there's nothing preventing them from becoming active again.
