Hey everyone! I was just wondering who else has downloaded the new Neverwinter game and what they thought of it. It is in open beta right now and looks ok so far. It reminds me of the D&D MMORPG they had a decade ago but with better graphics and smoother interface. If anyone else is on, let me know and we can try to meet IG. Later.
After a little more play time, I would say that it is very similar to Guild Wars 2 (for those that have played it). If you liked that game, then you will probably enjoy this one. Powers and skills are based on D&D 4th ed.

SMK, glad to hear your looking for a good game. Do you have a link to the open beta, I would be interested in giving it a whirl. Mike Hey everyone! Yeah, I'm always on the lookout for a good game. It's nothing like the old NWN, as there is no DM Client that I am aware of...which is a let down. But the story line so far is decent. Anyway, I'll let you take a look for yourself. If you like it, we'll figure out how to meet up IG and run around together. Take it easy. nw.perfectworld.com/download

SMK, What character & class are you playing right now? I was thinking the Elf with its +2 dex & +2 wisdom might make a decent building block for a monk/cleric (assuming those classes exist). I will have to load this up this coming weekend.

Currently I have two low level characters. One is a halfling rogue and the other a human fighter.

A Halfling? I didn't even see that on the list. I think either a cleric or trickster rogue would be a nice addition to a fighter in the party. I will create one this weekend (barring any RL issues getting in the way) Look for me to do this on Saturday. Currently I have two low level characters. One is a halfling rogue and the other a human fighter.

I'm actually playing the halfling the most. She is a trickster rogue and is quite fun. I'm level 12 right now (which is still pretty low, you level quick). Nothing wrong with the warrior, just kind of run of the mill.

Maybe I will join as a fellow sword slinger & we just find ourselves some casters to party up with. I will attempt to make it on this Saturday. Probably either the offensive sword character or the tank sword character.
What server are you playing on?

Anyone else want to join feel free! It would be nice to get a group of us back together on the free game to see if its worth pursuing.

Ok SMK. I will probably download the game tonight before game 6 of Blues vs. Kings. Most likely I will create a damage dealing great weapon guy to start.

Well I have been playing Neverwinter online with SMK over the weekend.
If you have ever played a perfectworld online game then you know exactly how this works.
For a free online game its decent. Lots to do & a huge area to explore. I have not done any dungeon crawls or joined any other parties yet.
My personal feeling is that this type/style of game wont hold my attention for too long. Seems repetitive & if your not hacking your way through the stock quests or the dungeon crawls then I don't see what else to do. There is crafting but I have no idea at what level that is opened up or how to even begin crafting. I have picked up crafting supplies as loot along the way in my quests but I end up selling the materials at the merchants.
Anyway its free so you cant go wrong there. Give it a shot!
