This is probably a very mute point but it has been going around in my head after speaking to several other players. Ok so there arent that many anymore but many of those that still lurk here in the forums do keep in touch if infrequently. Anywho, I have noticed that no one has really commented on T1 & or T2 but the few players there were seem to have pretty much dropped off both games. There are many reasons, not the least of which is everyones busy RL why we no longer find the time to log in but there are 2 which are controllable that most of the minescule player base has expressed. I thought I would just share them so they are out there. Take em or leave them and I dont really expect a change of course but at least the general concenous (as its been said to me) will be on paper. Things less appreciated. #1 The PAW: I have not met anyone who wants or feels the PAW adds to the flavor of the worlds more than it detracts. My own initial concept based on how i read what it adds was "bring it on!" but in reality it is an encumberance which we would prefer to do without. #2 Haks: I have been told there are too many by several; its a hassle to download and install. I would agree its a hassle but for myself I DO enjoy being able to see what the bioware engine can do. It is just a shame there is no simpler way to put it in the system.
Again, I dont expect BW to rip things out or put things in based upon my comments. I just felt he deserved to know what the few players have felt (their frustration) and why neither world is drawing the older players anymore. Of course there are far more out of his control items such as the age of the game, the lack of other players to interact with, the general "been there done that a million times" feelings all go into a seriously deminised player base.
On a bright note, Love the effort BW has continued to pour into both worlds. Especially considering the age of the game and lack of players to make him feel his efforts have been shared and worth it.
Cheers!

Wow, talk about pulling a thread from the dead. :-D
I'm still alive too BTW, just getting ready for another transfer this summer.
Anyhow, I agree and wholly concur with Mike on the PAW issue. I really don't see the point, especially with the low player base. I would think that development time and effort would be better spent than implementing a tool that duplicates game functions that for the most part, are already part of the existing engine.
As for the HAKs, I don't mind them as long as they are organized and available in one place, from a site that doesn't make me "sign up" for junk mail just to download something that's suppose to be free in the first place.

I like using 2shared for up/down loads and is is totally free. I understand about wanting 1 place to get all the haks, I feel the same. I'm learning more about hak combining so that while the haks might be large, it is better for keeping content in working order.
Darned enter button...
I still love NWN and feel at 'home' on Talus. It is hard to get something set up to where one can catch a few players on to interact with. I don't think NWN has outlived its existence because there are many great builders out there coming up with fascinating content on a regular basis.

Oddly enough, I believe 4share converted to member only downloading. HC mentioned it to me last week and I went to see what crazy thing he was talking about and BAM. Before I could D/L the HAK for T2 I have to "login or sign up". Thats also when we discovered the latest 2 HAKs BW uses were not included in the 1 all inclusive T2HaK.exe file (which I have since corrected & hyper linked). I like using 2shared for up/down loads and is is totally free.

Another thing that bothers me with the PAW is the hodge-podge way its been implemented within Talus.
I have to search and peck for someplace to rest to regain memorized teleports, but cant even use the PAW in my own guild house or player house. The only place that is even near Peridotia thats obvious is the marked area at the entrance to the challenges.
Normal resting doesn't allow teleport reset.
This is an issue I brought up nearly a year ago.
If the PAW isn't going to be implemented to allow for proper resting even in places where it makes the most sense, where and when is it going to be implemented?

Personally, I don't like the PAW resting but it is up to BW how things run on Talus 1&2 =)

T1 has not been a priority for me in the last year, sorry. I'm currently working brutal hours 6 days a week and it will be like that for a few more weeks before things settle down on my end. At that point I'll look at the player scripts again on T1 and see what can be done. In the meantime I will place an allowed resting trigger in your housing areas.

On a bright note, Love the effort BW has continued to pour into both worlds. Especially considering the age of the game and lack of players to make him feel his efforts have been shared and worth it. Cheers! The bottom line here is NWN is old. No amount of effort on my part is going to attract or "bring back" players. A lot has happened in my life in the past nine years, and the same holds true for everyone else. Even when we had a large player base you could poll players and find a majority that didn't like something, big or small - including me. These points have been discussed and belabored enough in the past that I think they merit no more comment on my part. If anyone doesn't know where I stand then the time spent on reading prior posts is better spent than my time in reiterating about this. I build Talus based on what I like and my vision in playing D&D the past 30 years. The biggest thing about the PAW is that it forces a player to not just powergame through, hit things, and get loot. Somewhere, somehow, it forces one to stop and think about their circumstance and the "why" of a situation. For those who like to just power through for loot and xp, well, T2 won't be your cup of tea. But there's still plenty of servers that cater to that style of play. If not - NWN is old. What can I say? The biggest thing missing from Talus is DM interaction. There isn't the player base available for that. It is what it is. NWN is in its twilight. Everyone may as well enjoy what they can because it won't be around forever.

Any update on your long standing issue of resting in your guild house for the mage HC Sayuri? T1 has not been a priority for me in the last year, sorry. I apologize for the long delay in response. Still getting settled into my new job and living arrangements in California, its only been since July that I have been moved.
Last I checked, resting normally with (R) was re-enabled, but my teleporter characters still do not receive teleports per day back. Resting with the CRAP token isn't enabled in the guild house, and from what BW said earlier, only resting with the CRAP token will get you your teleports back.
