We have two great new DMs that are currently adding a lot to the enjoyment of the server. However, we can still use more DMs, especially for weekday coverage.
If anyone wants to tryout for DM status on Talus post here or send me a PM.

I've done it before, and I'll do it again. When would be a good time to do an introductory event?

Um, any day except Tuesday and Thursday. Which'd be Monday and Wednesday for you.

I'd like to try out as a DM. Due to the depressing quests Talus has been having lately, I would like to provide a change of pace: more lighthearted quests that are more like BW's and Jaiken's and less like the ones that have been on the server lately. There are HUNDREDS of areas in Talus, and not all of them are constantly depressed, for sure. Even with the Shard Fall, there has to be some more lighthearted hijinx going on around Talus. When Jaiken more or less left due to his schoolwork, and BW left for a while to take a break from NWN, Talus has had not many zany quests. So I'd like to start adding back that quirky quality those two DMs added to Talus.
I do have DM experience, by the way. Using the LAN server I've made I've had various quests with mom and my RL friends. They've all enjoyed my DM quests, even when something TOTALLY unexpected happens (I.E. My RL friend killing the druids he was supposed to help, and in turn getting turned into a cow by an angry nature deity), and I've come up with some very creative ideas in my personal world. I'd like to see how I do with Talus's MUCH more advanced DM system (on my LAN server I used almost nothing but the basic DM client functions, and it still turned out excellent).
As most of you know, I follow the rules of Talus quite well, so I will probably do the same as a DM as well. Also, during weekday evenings I usually don't have much to do, so I'd be happy to help during those times. (no job + homeschool = boatloads of free time)
I can actually run a DM event tonight, if anyone's interested. Even if the event doesn't go as well as I'd hope, I can still help with adding minor flavour to the server with my own personal style by interacting with players using NPCs. May not be as spectacular as a DM event, but it does really add life to any world.
I hope I can help out Talus in any way possible.

Forgive me... but again, you show disrespect toward the current dms. And since you wish to be considered as a dm... those that will be voting you in are going to be the current dms. I don't mean to be rude about this but a little maturity is not too hard to ask. Considering the amount of responsibility that comes with being dm, it is a requirement.
Granted, I am all for you becoming dm, I just think you're going about it the wrong way.

Divineheart, while the DMs I've had the pleasure to interact with on Talus have ranged from ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to pretty good, the latter ones I might've considered awful if I preferred a different playstyle... And even the former, with a different playstyle, I likely wouldn't have enjoyed quite as much.
I didn't notice any disrespect in Star-X's post... And while, admittedly, you may be referring to something totally separate from the post in terms of him/her showing disrespect... I don't see it in that post, there. Disrespect would've been "yeah, the DMs here are mediocre." (Also would've been untrue, in my experience.)
For myself, I'm still trying to get a handle on the client, and am still very much in training... So I suppose I may well not have terribly much room to talk, but Star's got my vote far and away.
*Tips his hat.*

Something that confirms my good impression of your judgment. I didn't notice any disrespect in Star-X's post... Disrespect would've been "yeah, the DMs here are mediocre." (Also would've been untrue, in my experience.) I believe it's the constant ragging on waxeens shard fall quest and tearing it down in talk and posts. Instead of being able to say "I don't like it please exclude me" he makes the connection that "Since I don't like it, it has no value to anyone". Then says this opinion loudly and repeatedly without care for the feelings of others. This is the /opposite/ of the perceptive judgment I just complemented you on.

I was really reluctant to post how I felt. Simply because there has been a lot of bashing on each other lately, and it just like a food fight. Everyone starts throwing blame to one another but in the end we all get dirty. I think we need to stop and really think about what we are saying to people. I know that if I were Waxeen, I would be hurt if someone said my stories were depressing or telling me that they could do a better job. I'm not just defending her because consider her work incredible, but because all this bashing on each other needs to stop.

Edit for clarification of my own rambling: I haven't seen anything else from Star-X, so I don't know if you're basing the statement of "ooooh, negativity!" off of more than the one post. I imagine so, but for the purposes of the following post, I've assumed not. Don't ask, it makes sense in my head. xD Well, while I do agree with the intent behind your message, Divineheart, (i.e. negativity = bad, positivity = good,) I think some clarification is important. Bashing isn't good, no. However, simply saying that one doesn't enjoy a certain style of quest, or thinks that a given DM could do better on certain things... This isn't a bad thing. For example, I think that Inviktus (who is clearly more accustomed to high-level combat as a DM,) needs to ponder whether or not a pair of level seven characters can handle twenty-odd CR 10+ish driders, before dropping the spidery things on someone. ( ) For this example, my comment regards balance, and does so in a non-inflammatory (in fact, rather playful) way. Now, I'm not saying I could do much better in NWN, just now... But my opinions on a specific quest/incident are still relatively valid, and voicing them as I did is a positive thing, I think. By all means, I invite folks to tell me what I can do better - how else do we improve? In terms of Star's comment specifically, I didn't really get a negative vibe out of it - admittedly, text is fairly ambiguous when it comes to the subtleties of tone, and opinions as to such can vary wildly - though I do think that perhaps it could've been worded differently. Frankly, for one quest I'm planning (a fairly elaborate one that you may not see for a while yet, assuming I even do make full DM), "depressing" would be a compliment. For one that prefers a more lighthearted style from time to time, it's not necessarily an insult - merely a statement that some (who don't have such practice being needlessly eloquent as I) would make, rather than a more elaborate one. Yeah, I blather sometimes. On and on and on. It's a hobby of mine to occasionally be needlessly eloquent. In closing: Bashing is bad. Constructive criticism is good. IMO, Star's post was the latter. Let's get back to playing the game.
