I am new here so forgive me if this comes off wrong but if +2 is the best you can craft other then to gain xp what exactly is the point of crafting? It seems kinda like there is not gonna be alot of call for crafted items. Is there gonna be better recipes added later or is what you have now all there will be? Thanks

the only good thing i can think of besides xp at the lower to mid lvls of character is that by crafting said +2 items, you can stock a player vendor and sell your creations to the low and mid lvl characters who need those types of items. So you get gold and xp. It does not help you as you have seen, create weapons that the mid-upper lvls will be interested in. It would be nice to see the crafting system kicked up another notch or two.

For your quick response.....I guess I will delve deep into the crafting and hopefully it will be increased by adding more and better recipes later on ;D

Soooooooooooooo sorry. I hate to be one of those that say RL is the problem but I find myself there.
Sorry

I hope it has been pleasant RL experiances rather than the other kind. Real life cannot be denied in the long term . Giving it priority is the best policy I have learned (and am still learning). Best wishes.

Hi all! I am fairly new to Talus but I have met most of you in game with at least one of my chars. First off gotta say I have never felt more at home on a server than I do here. =] So.... to business then. *Blows off the dust covered recipie book she found recently* I aquired a book in game called "Weapons of Renown" which showed some pretty neat recipies for weapon crafting. So, like any eager crafter, I began mining away working hard to gain some skill. Now while the xp has been wonderful and the gold decent... I started asking questions to a few players and the feedback I got was that the book is old and the recipies it contains will not work anymore. It is time to change that... maybe not for this book, but I think we should definately have more weapon/armor recipies that are more powerful than your average +2.... I mean... think about it... if a Grandmaster Smith can't beat a +3 weapon... then as the xp fades you begin to see less and less of the point. I don't mean to say that we should be able to craft God-like weapons... not at all...but I do think we should be able to "custom craft" so to speak. The higher the skill the better the weapon. You could even make a few of the more powerful items race/class specific.... I.E. a human cleric weapon crafting master might be able to make a powerful flail.... let's call it "Flail of True Death". Now lets say it has a +5 enhancement bonus, 2d6 divine damage, and slay racial group undead DC 20. Only human clerics would be able to make this weapon... any other races would have a different outcome.. anyway I think you who read this might be getting my point. If you builders or whomever it is that can make these kinds of changes would like some ideas I would be glad to give some. Thanks for reading, and I hope to see some kind of changes soon! Take care!

Yeah this was brought up a while ago, and nice to see it back up, even if not racial or class weapons, but, a nice list of weapons you can make out of all those unused items, gargoyle skull, dragon blood, etc. maybe even some regents that are dm drop only

Im not arguing against better crafting BUT just so your expectations arent too high, should someone take on the crafting changes.... That weapon spec you used as an example is pretty much uber on Talus. +5 is the best you will get outside of special situations and 2d6 special damage is petty darn rare too. Most added damages are anywhere from 1d4, 1d6 or 1d8. As an example, the only weapons i know of readily that does 2d6 added damage are Terminus Est (all slashing damage, no magic type) and the Giant Killer (best weapon against giant races). We all agree that the weapon and armor crafting is weak and has been since it was put into play but i would be astounded if Lan allowed any +5 weapons or armor to be made since thats the upper limit of DM drops and epic location loot. If it does get changed (and i dont see anyone volunteering) then i think the best you could hope for would be something like +4 max and 1d4 added damage. You have to leave some reason to go out and want to die at the hands of boss monsters in far off locations and the weapons and armor fit that bill.
Anyway, thats my observation and opinion.

Hey, isn't there any other crafting scripts out there in the entire community we could look at that wouldnt take allot of modding to get to work with our system?

CNR is one of the best and it's not been updated recently. I don't know that I have seen any out there so far that are more expansive without getting rediculous.
