Mek,
and others ...
I will volunteer to help with this.
I think +2 max is week, (like it sounds most of you on this post), for crafting, but I also think +3 or maybe +4 should be max in crafting of weapons and armor.
I also think on the balance issue, that a +5 should be real real real rare. But that is my penny of thought.
I also would like to see no drops of +4 weapons or armors, these should be crafted only and players should buy these from other players .... encourages more role play

Mek,
point me to the script for weapons and armors, and I will make a rough draft (word document) of the changes I would propose.
Then I will send the proposed changes to Mek, Lan, and any others who should looks at it. Once approved, and only after Lan approves, I will put the script in NWN script form and send to Lan.

Wow looks like I started a snowball =] The specs for the weapon I gave were intended to give an idea... it was not a cry for uber crafted weapons. However, maybe there could be just a few extremely rare DM dropped recipies that used items like Moonstone was talking... and are not easily aquired and all of them approved by Lan and the others. I can't tell you how excited I was when I found that book, and how disappointed I am that it won't help. I dunno... I just find it hard to want to craft when I can find things that are so much better. I mean, sure it is great to craft for the lower levels to buy off your vender... but I didn't see very many venders carring less than a +3 weapon when I was new. So it seems that once the crafter realizes that he/she cannot make something they want anymore they lose interest and go on. Won't be the case with me though-- gonna try to help all the new young players out there I can *winks* Thanks again to all who read or responded to the post. I eagerly await what happens =]

I think making +5 weapons with one type of elemental damage is ok (common elementals naturally) With the whole level requirment system in effect, its not truely that bif of deal, and your not at the mercy and wait, for dms to finally get a chance for you to quest for a +5 weapon just so you have a chance to combat some of these newer, and very very powerful epic creatures that are around. Just make them cost alot of ingots, and have to be level 10+ in the craft it self ((id say higher, but, certain classes/races, master a craft before 20, or even 15)), and have to have certain components. Maybe even use sherras idea, have a speical dwarven axe for dwarfs only, a speical bow for elfs only, and so on. This way, Players have at least have access to +5 weapons and armor without DMs consetly getting tells to quest for a weapon thats better then +3, and players can actually have a chance against them monsters pass epic

AS far as other crafting systems. Some friends play on World of Torr so I tried it out for a little while. I like it here better but they have a really interesting crafting system. Also a lot of interesting ideas for you builders (I should post this on that forum have meant to for a while but .....). I have no idea how portable it is and last time I was there the world had some stability problems but check it out ....
Oh they only allow one character per player but you can rebuild automatically for a price.
