Lots of work is going on today and tomorrow, uploading areas to Talus 2 to get it ready to test combat, spells (especially AOE), transportation, and the first couple of quests that I have in it. I want to make sure these quests work as they should before diving into more of them.
Tomorrow I will contact Lanthar and see what we can do about resting in the next few days; regardless, I'll be doing a lot of building and beta testing in the next few days.

Today I am loading most of the Valahna areas into T2. Tonight I will load in the latest version of T2 and see if the Valahna areas are behaving as they should. If all goes well I should be uploading Hammerfall tomorrow.

Scratch that - it turns out that my Valahna city interiors area is catastrophically and terminally corrupted, so I've lost many hours of work and that's what I get to work on tonight.

It turns out that I have not lost as much as I feared. That is to say - Valahna interiors are in more than one city interior area, so I only have to recreate 4 or 5 areas. Looks like I had gotten some vital areas done and was going to come back and add more areas.

Many hours of building last night and today. I found that my close door template is cleverly locking doors as well. That means I have to go through hundreds of doors to make sure they close. Nothing like creating work for myself. I am making good progress in and around Northport. After I work out some of these bugs and add content I will do the same thing in Valahna.

I continue to peck away at T2.
The weekends are busy for me with both jobs going on, but I've been able to beta test and make adjustments, doing an update or two every day. The next few days will be filled with lots of building and testing and I'll have a better idea of if I think we have something worthwhile for you to be playing on by the weekend.

I am doing the finishing touches on the banks. When implemented (after successful testing), the banks will deduct a 10% fee at deposit. The will be no fee at withdrawal. The banks will be the only place where you'll find persistent storage. For now the banks will have Chest A-D. What you store, for example, in Chest C in Crescent Bay will be available in Chest C in Hammerfall. There will be a fee to get into the vault but it'll beat having to crawl all the way across the continent with items! If we find that more bank persistent chests are useful then I can add more later. Talus 2 will not have persistent storage other than what is in a bank.What's going to be your incentive for using a bank? Encumbrance of gold and/or items. There will be no community chests at all. I am trying to limit metagaming as best I can. I know the merchants are working as they should. I will need to test the banking system before implementing the gold encumbrance system. I will have details soon.

I've been working for the past couple of hours on an annoying little issue. I've been giving players the PAW and PCScry when they enter their city of choice at the beginning of entering T2. As is the case on occasion with T1, sometimes a PC will bug and wind up back in Adrift Between Worlds, and they can go to their home city but they get the PAW and PCScry again. So rather than having the PC deal with destroying or trashing items, I worked it into the OnClientEnter event. Duplication shouldn't be an issue now. And now I'm back to working on interiors in Valahna and Hammerfall, which I'd like to have done before I go to bed tonight.

In T2 you're going to initially find relatively large home cities and they'll have lots of barred and blocked doors. I do have intentions for many of these places but in the interest of getting T2 up sooner for previews, I'm leaving them alone for now. As I get further along there will eventually be NPCs, conversations, and quests that will bring more than just a bunch of blocked doors. I will try to have a beginning quest or two but I need to balance that with getting the other home cities up and running. I don't want to have so much quest content in these initial cities that when we get the next couple of cities up that it's automatically a detriment to go there because it's not as far along as the others. So there will be a time frame, where T2 is not up 24/7, where what exists will be as is and then there will be a lot of additions all at once. A lot of what has been going on so far are global issues and bugs in scripts that take time to work out. It's a different ball game to throw down a city or a set of outdoor areas. I have well established ideas for the gnome and elf cities, so it's not going to be a matter of sitting in front of the computer with builder's block and wondering what the heck I should be doing.

Tonight I'll be working all night on building; the next 6 or 7 hours.
I'm hoping that at the end of it I'll be able to say that we can do a sneak preview of T2 soon - perhaps this weekend. I'll check back later tonight (night for me, morning for you) with some more solid information.
*UPDATE* - I found in running around that Crescent Bay needs help with some basics. I've been working on it a bit and will probably be at it for another hour or so and then I'll continue beta testing other areas.

BW it is great getting the frequent updates and also a bit of a tease. Cant wait to give the new T2 a whirl. Thank you for all the efforts in pretty much every aspect of Talus.
