Alvar is dead. Long live Alvar!
Which is to say - old Alvar is no longer. New Alvar is available, but I'm still working on it. It's just that I moved or deleted everything in old Alvar so there's no reason not to go forward.
If you go on right now you still may see some missing doors and this and that, but I've updated Talus 5 or 6 times today and am continuing for the next few hours.
*UPDATE*
Dynamic Merchants are in and functional.
All West Lomatin player housing has been deleted.

There will be two or three restarts as the day progresses. I'm adding content, mostly in the way of merchants and NPCs in Alvar.
Alvar slum interiors added.

Alvar is coming along. I'm getting a little faster with what I'm after with these dynamic merchants. We now have an armor, weapons, jewelry, and potions merchant there - and there is more to come.
Some quests are still not available because I would like to have Alvar along a little more before bringing in Lomatin. Some quests - like the dragon's blood quest - that before had nothing to do with Lomatin now have everything to do with Lomatin. New Lomatin, that is.
As I was setting up the potions merchant in Alvar, I started going through the custom potions that we have on Talus. Now, this is a typical scenario: I set up something new and then have to deal with a bunch of old, useless garbage. In this case, we're talking about a lot of useless custom potions or alcoholic drinks. I've deleted a lot of what was there and modified what I thought was useful for my and other DM purposes. If an alcoholic drink is a "potion" then it just has a name, like Bog Brew. If a potion is a potion, however - if there's some sort of spell effect, rather than an alcoholic drink - then I've added "potion" to the name. That way, not only do I have an easier time building, but if a DM places something as loot, they actually have a clue.
It's a brave new world, making sense and all.
Now for alcoholic drinks...I'm getting ready to set up some new bars and such, and I have the new drinks that I've added to the server, so they will be there. That's fine and dandy, but in a roleplaying server there needs to be more. Like, if my character slams a bunch of drinks, shouldn't he or she be incoherent or pass out?
Yeah, I think so too. So I'm doing something about it.
In the next few days we're going to have an addition to the server, where if you're character is drunk, they are s-faced drunk. Incapacitated. Unconscious. Or just very happy. It's going to be great fun.
More to come!

The following has been updated: - More Alvar content. More merchants (I'm adding and changing two or three merchants per day). You can now do something with the CNR animal meat but I won't give that away, you have to figure it out for yourself.
- New Lomatin is in! There is more to come. Right now Lomatin has been hit with a tsunami, so there's anarchy in the streets. Lomatin is ruled by bands of thugs! What I have out there are scaled encounters for levels 2-20. BUT - they are rated "hard" so they won't be pushovers! Also, at the immediate moment, I forgot to put down some encounter cleaners, so until the next update today or tomorrow be very careful. Lomatin wil settle down after I've taken care of some interiors and sewer work. This means that the Blackhearted Diamond quest is currently not available. It's temporary.
The old Lomatin areas are not available but have not been deleted from the server yet. I'm still making sure that I have moved everything that is essential from the former Lomatin. If you feel something is amiss please post in the Bug Reports forum.
- So how do you get to Lomatin now?? For now there is a ship to Lomatin Eastern Farmlands Port. Ships to everywhere have been moved with the exception of Battle Island. I will have a connection to Battle Island within the week, maybe within the next couple of days.
Yeah, things are chaotic and it's a bit difficult to get around. Kind of like a real disaster, huh. ;D

Today's update was all about fixing a couple of problems: - The poker game has never worked properly but is now fixed. Alvar has a casino and you can check it out there with the other games. The casino will also have a pawn shop that isn't too discreet about what they're buying. - Lanthar fixed a download that I have implemented to Talus, where alcoholic drinks will have alcoholic effects. I got my characters drunk and passed out and it was totally hilarious! There are racial modifications as well - you're not going to be able to drink like a dwarf if you're not a dwarf!

Today I updated some of the bartenders in Talus. There's still a snafu with the bartender in Swordbane Village but it will have to wait until later for correcting.
There is an ammunition merchant in Peridotia Village and I've created some new arrows, bolts, and bullets, with more to come.

The following was updated: - Useless Watcher conversations deleted.
- Taverns added to Swordbane Village and Lomatin Eastern Farmlands Port.
- I've set up the first player level merchant. This merchant is in the guild area of the Shadow in Central Alvar. If you're not a rogue he won't sell to you. He sells certain items for level 1-12, other items for level 13-25, and higher level items for level 26+. If you're not in the player level range, you won't see things for sale in that range - for example, your level 22 rogue won't see stuff for level 1-12 or for 26+. You'll have to be part of the Shadow Guild (See Osa for a key) to access this merchant. Don't worry, there will be others elsewhere.

The Collapsed Tunnel is updated. I suspect that the same garbage scripting that creates multiple spawns of boulders also does not allow me to duplicate the boulders in any other kind of configuration in the same or in any other area. One of these days I may come back to it and modify it to be area specific...or not. I modified the old area and expanded it a bit. In any case, the encounters there have been changed and scaled, so don't expect to mow over a couple of drow and umber hulk to get your 1000 xp. Things will be quiet the next few days - I'm working on a quest for Alvar, something more than the fetch-something-for-me-and-get-xp variety.

The following has been updated: - More useless NPCs deleted.
- There are some password doors on the server. You're going to have to figure out where to get the password and what they're for...and plan on the password changing every so often.
- A player combat battle arena is now in the tent in Rural Alvar. Players can go there to safely PvP against one another. Rules are posted inside.

More useless stuff, especially NPCs, were deleted. I have to peck away at the NPCs because it takes a couple of hours for them to delete.
New Area: The Dragon Stadium in Alvar. I always thought the the dragon arena in Inner Lomatin was kind of wimpy. In the defense of the builder at the time, that's all he had to work with.
No longer. Check it out!
(If what I have in mind works, I'll be adding spectators this week, too).

Today was a cleaning day. Took care of little things in Alvar, Big Blue Lake, and added a monster killer so that enemies don't follow players into the Peri Mine Temple and cause chaos. Fixed the mine temple respawn location also.
Tonight I will finish NPC guards and place new guards in Peridotia, Lomatin, and Alvar areas.

Added some missing doors in Alvar.
