(Not Fair! - Had a good rant going while using an Epic Dodge I don't have --- and I was logged out...) To Conclude (Today seemed to be a rant day - sorry folks): While irritating, the // do have their place. (as do SOME shouts). I try not to use em, other than a howdy or helpin a newbie or so find something. - (BUT - sometims they just can't be helped...I have found that Most of the conversation at times consists of // or OOC...before hand.) (That enough Mike? Can I come out of hiding now? Uh? Can I? ) ///Invite? - JustnKace - (The comments of JustnKace are his alone and should not be confused with the comments, actions or sales of Bix Emporium.)

rotfl you slay me.. ;D i agree with you in some of it but i am a chatty person (as if you coulnd't tell) and it makes my time feel more well spent if i can make new friends and discuss things while at the same time having a good time playing a game. I would corrilate it to having a cathidor (not that i have but if you think about it). being able to do 2 things you enjoy at the same time!!! what is better than that? well maybe ding 3 things you enjoy at once!

"Courage is not the absense of fear but rather the judgement that something is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever but the cautious do not live at all.
You travel the road between who you think you are and what you can be. The key is to allow yourself to make the journey."
I have forgotten who I am quoting but I find this advice of a father, written to his daughter who is going off on her own to be priceless.

I am drawn toward positive, inspiring & growing experiences. I also have a love for moral dilemmas & role reversal - the good guy is really the bad guy, etc.

I think we each can handle different amounts of IC/OOC before it gets in our way & that threshold level changes often. When I say "Hi guys" to people at work I am often talking to a group of women. When I say "Hi guys" in party I am usually talking to both you the real person & the PC persona.
I get annoyed when someone shouts something OOC add annoyances when i the shout is a private conversation - "Dude, my car got towed away!" happened on another server. I also get annoyed when someone tries to RP a megalomaniac. But, if you put // somewhere I understand.
Wifey is disabled, I have to go AFK a lot. Wifey is also psychic & often waits in hiding at the other end of the house until the crucial part of a quest to call me away. I had hammer toe corrective surgery on 4/14 & can't sit at the computer all day with one foot on the floor & the other leg straight out with the foot propped up on a pillow - lesson learned - I have to take breaks myself. I understand the need for OOC conversation. Real life is more important than RP. But, my RL does not & should not intrude on your entertainment/relaxation/game time/hobby/pal'ing around with friends.

I started a new character, teiuQ, the other day & went off on a DM quest with her. It is both great fun & a great challenge to survive as a low level PC & there are high level PC's right next to you. I laugh & smile when other low levels charge the epic level dracolich. It is not RP to me to pick the impossible fight.

It's been a while since I heard people say HCR things saying they want more reality but I feel the need to rant. :) NWN is not anything close to reality at any time in history that I can imagine. If there was something close to a powerful dragon or demon & a small band set out after it... they would have been killed. If the same small band went against an empire or nation (goblin - orgothian - brood) they still would have been killed. If one of the band members died they would have stayed dead. NWN is a game. It's supposed to be fun. Each of us has a different definition or recipe for fun but online multiplayer means we all have to work together to achieve fun.
If anybody in real life acted like our characters do & did the kinds of things our characters do they would be shot or imprisoned.

Almost all of the people posting in this thread do not post here anymore. *"Where are the Clowns" & "Where have all the flowers gone" music playing through my mind.*
*** impromptu signature I like the people here so if you are going to torture, burn, spindle or mutilate me do it with passion :P

Whether this is still alive or not, I do agree with the first message about people not taking up roles, instead just rushing in and typing their "roleplay" instead of actually doing it. It seems that most people just want to kill an NPC instead of trying to talk with it, or just trigger a trap instead of thinking of ways around it. It's hard to do this if your party doesn't want to, mostly because if they run in ahead and kill everything, even if your staying back and maybe thinking of a strategy, you'll either miss the quest entirely or get killed when you try to catch up by yourself.
